One of the draws of the Open, at least for me anyways, is the fact that it is a test of the “unknown and the unknowable”. Not even your Coaches know the workout before it is announced on Thursday night. While the mysterious nature of the Open workouts is an exhilarating highlight of the competition, it throws a monkey wrench in our weekly workout planning. Fortunately, over the years we have developed a specific template to guide our programming during the five weeks of the Open.
Well, the dust has settled, and the 2018 Crossfit Open is over! Congrats - whether it was your first or your eighth year participating, you definitely have things to be proud of. Maybe you pushed yourself harder than ever. Perhaps you felt extra fired up and motivated to get to the gym, what with the exciting socials, camaraderie of Friday Night Lights, or leader-boarding (yes, it’s a verb). Maybe you uncovered a weakness, or skill you want to add to your capacity. Let’s talk about these experiences, because if we can bring the best of ourselves from the Open into the gym year-round, some pretty amazing changes can happen.
As we tackle the next five weeks as a community, we want to find out what pushed you to sign up for the Open this year. Every person has a different reason and motivation, and it's a really neat opportunity for the Tidal community to see what that is (if you're comfortable sharing, of course)! It might even provide some motivation for next year for individuals not quite ready to join in the fun this season.
Join Tidal Owner, Jeff Larsh, for a 90-minute workshop designed to get you feeling confident going into each and every workout of this year's CrossFit Games Open. Regardless of whether you're in it to just have some fun, crush some personal goals, or make it to Regionals, there is something for everyone to take away.
