The tragedy that occurred on April 6th in Tisdale Saskatchewan is unthinkable. As a parent and former hockey player, my heart goes out to those directly and indirectly affected, and I know by the pain I feel that this list is a long one. I have spent hundreds of hours on those buses with my teams over the years and having something like this happen is crushing. I cannot imagine what those families are going through, and it rips my heart out thinking about it. It’s hard to breath when I think about it. These kids had so much potential and future in front of them and to have that taken away is just wrong. So much good just gone. I don’t have words to make sense of it, and I am left blurry eyed in front of my computer feeling confused, angry, sad and helpless. And, I am ashamed to say, that I also feel lucky, to have never had my family have to go through this, to never have had to get those phones calls.
So I would like to ask you, Tidal Nation, to help these families by donating to https://ca.gofundme.com/funds-for-humboldt-broncos. We will be hosting a workout on Saturday, April 14 written by Burlington Business Leader, Joe Tolles, a guy who has ridden more buses then I have, to show how thankful we are that we have each other and to honour the individuals that lost their lives that night.
From the bottom of my broken heart, thank you Tidal Nation.
